The BetterInvesting Portfolio Manager ‘Home Page’ displays a summary of information for the current portfolio.
The Menu Bar provides the program menus for selecting Portfolio Manager features. Functions for creating portfolios, adding transactions, generating reports, updating data and more are found throughout the menu choices. The Tool Bar provides quick access to some of Portfolio Manager’s more common features. These include updating market prices, refreshing the home page data, performing a backup of existing data, and access to user-defined Internet sites.
Portfolio Snapshot
- Current Value: the total current market value for the portfolio. You can click on this link to create the Appraisal Report for the portfolio.
- Unrealized Gain/Loss: the total unrealized gain or loss for the portfolio.
- Estimated Income: the total estimated income for the portfolio.
- Last Date updated: date of last home page refresh.
Year to Date Activity
- Investment Income: total investment income received for year-to-date activity. You can click on this link to create the Income Received Report for the portfolio.
- Realized Gain/Loss: total of short-term and long-term capital gains earned for year-to-date activity. You can click on this link to create the Sold Securities Report for the portfolio.
- Performance: the portfolio performance return, measured by the internal rate of return, considering all investment flows occurring within the year-to-date period. The portfolio results are based on the market values stored in the as-of-date historic library entries. Verify correct values are stored for the portfolio holdings for accurate comparisons. You can click on this link to create the Performance Report for the portfolio
- vs. S&P 500: compares the performance results of the portfolio with the performance results of the S&P 500 index. The index results are based on the market values stored in the as-of-date historic library entries. Verify correct values are stored for the indexes for accurate comparisons.
Portfolios
- Shown are all current portfolios in the Portfolio Manager system. The currently open portfolio is shown w/ a check mark. You can easily switch between portfolios by placing your mouse pointer over a portfolio name, and then using a left-double click to select.
Tabs: as part of Portfolio Manager’s home page view, you’ll notice several tabs that can be selected to review specific information. You’ll find these tabs a convenient means to view portfolio holdings, portfolio values, income and sale activity, and allocation percentages. |
